Welcome to Botterblomme! I'm so glad you're here! My name is Christina van As and this business is my dream and my baby - with regular encouragement and inspiration from my husband, Jaco van As. The name, Botterblomme, is a blend of both of us. My nickname growing up was Buttercup. Jaco is an Afrikaner from South Africa. Botterblomme means Buttercups in Afrikaans (his first language).
I started this business because I am passionate about entrepreneurship. I believe that a small business can help change the world. I want my family to see the benefits of hard work, perseverance, and a life lived with passion. I also started this business because I wanted to do more to give back to the world around me. I wanted to give more - do more for our beautiful planet and the people in it. First, I'm starting with inspiring people to love life; to love their everyday life (even when it can be mundane). One of the things that inspires us to love life is designing and making great products. We love what we do - it inspires us and we hope our items will inspire you too! Next, I want to be generous. Botterblomme is starting with giving 10% of sales to charity (Read about Restoring Hope Nepal here). Later, I hope to do more than just tip with our giving. I hope to be in a place to give more than we keep! I also dream of being big enough to provide good jobs to our local economy. We are a small business that does everything on site at our headquarters in Montana. We make most of our items and do not dropship, so you can have the assurance that each item you order has been inspected and touched by us before it is sent to you.
I would be remiss to try and inspire you to love life without letting you know why I'm so inspired to love life. I love life because Jesus Christ changed my life. I was a "good person" (as I've been told), but I knew that I had made mistakes. None of us are perfect - we all mess up. The truth is those mistakes, or sins, separate us from God. But God loves us and wants us to experience peace and life-abundant with Him. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people. He died so that we can be forgiven and reunited with God the Father - if we believe in Jesus and that He did that for us. Then we can have peace with God now and into eternity. I surrendered my life to Jesus and now seek to follow Him. He changed my life folks! It has been a brilliant ride so far. Is my life easy? No. Am I perfect now? Nope. But, I know that I have a relationship with God. He loves me just as I am - even in my messiness. I can pray and He answers. I know this will fall in different places for different people. I want you to know that God loves you right where you are and wants to have a relationship with you. If I could inspire you to love life to its fullest it would be to inspire you to take one step closer to God today through Jesus.
Thank you for visiting and learning more about us. We look forward to getting to know you better too. One of the things that helps us love life is community!
I hope you love life today,
Christina van As
